The Maryland Court Reporters Association's Mission

Founded in 1949, The Maryland Court Reporters Association (MCRA) is committed to advancing the court reporting profession by promoting court reporters as experts in the field of verbatim court reporting, providing continuing education to its members, while advocating quality service, high ethical standards, and the application of state-of-the-art technology.  MCRA has provided social and educational opportunities to the court reporting community in Maryland.  Our profession has changed since 1949, but we remain committed to the same goals and purposes.

We invite you to tour our site.  If you are a court reporter, broadcast captioner, student or CART provider, we hope you will consider joining our association. In Memory of Cassandra Warthen

It is with deep sorrow to inform you that our fellow court reporter Cassandra Warthen has passed.

Cassandra battled breast cancer for over two years and was an advocate for the awareness of breast cancer, especially to the uninsured.  But for those of us who knew her, she was much more than an advocate for her disease.  She was an advocate for life -- to take what you have and make it better, to take a dream and make it reality.  Personally, I have never met anybody that wanted to be a court reporter more so than Cassandra.  It may have taken her a while, but the thing was she NEVER gave up -- and she became a court reporter.

At present I don't have details of any services, but as soon as I do I will be sure to get them out.  I did see this posted on a web site, so if you would like to make a donation, the address is below:

You can send a donation in Cassandra's honor to:

Baltimore City Cancer Program University of Maryland
4538 Edmondson Avenue

Checks payable: Baltimore City Cancer Program
